Hot Tubs FAQ

Why is a wood fired hot tub more eco-friendly and economical compared to an electric hot tub?

Our wood-fired hot tubs with liners are the ultimate wood-fired hot tubs on the market with the fastest and most efficient heat times. We are the only source in North America for wood fired hot tubs with tandem wood-fired and electrical heaters, meaning you have the option to 'plug and play' with the electrical unit or use the wood-fired unit, or they can be used simultaneously to maintain optimal heat. We also offer optional filtration systems, LED lights, hydromassage jets, air-bubbler systems and a variety of designs, sizes and colours, giving you all the luxury of a jacuzzi with a fraction of the cost.

Because the main heat source is wood-fired and the optional electrical units use very low wattage, all of these options use a quarter of the electricity of a standard electric hot tub and can be run on a solar battery pack for off-grid use, as well as savings you thousands of dollars a year in electrical bills.

This is the perfect option for those who want a product that is ready to use, delivered right to your driveway with no assembly required.

  • Fastest heat up times on the market and no expensive electrical bills! Eco Tubs are much more economical to both purchase and run.

Heat up times from tap water temperature are from around 1.5 -2 hours for a wood-fired hot tub, compared to often over 24 hours with Electric Hot Tubs. You won't have a huge electrical bill with wood-fired hot tubs and the fast heat up time makes spontaneity possible - perfect for the unpredictable Canadian weather!

  • Totally off-grid compatible; our Eco-tubs do not require any electricity for heating, meaning you can place these in the most remote off-grid locations, such as by a lake or at a cabin in the woods.
  • Our premium Eco-tubs do not require any harsh chemicals, so you won't be pickling yourself in chlorine as you would in an electrical hot tub. You can use a combination of natural methods to keep your water clear in the Eco tubs, and you can drain the water into your garden or back into your lake.
  •  It is eco-friendly, since wood is a renewable type of energy source.
  • The crackling of the fire and the smell of the wood smoke are romantic and relaxing, and the hydromassage jets are therapeutic as you soak and release your tension and worries.

How often do you have to change the water in a wood-fired hot tub?

With the combination of sand/fibre ball filter, UV-C module and water sanitisers in all our wood-fired hot tubs, it is possible to keep the water in the hot tub for a few months. A water filter removes debris and a UV-C lamp and chemicals kill bacteria. You have to do both and follow the manufacturers’ instructions carefully for best results.

If you drain your private hot tub after a few uses, there is no need for chemicals. This is great for those who want to enjoy a relaxing and chemical-free bathing experience.

With natural and chlorine-free sanitizers, you can keep the same water in your hot tub for a week or more, depending on frequency of use. When combined with our sand/fibre ball filter and UV-C module, you can keep the water in for months at a time.

How is the water temperature maintained?

This requires a very short learning curve but will be very simple to those who have experience with a household wood burner!
Leaving the vents on the boiler door open will keep the fire roaring & increase the temperature of the water.
Once the desired temperature (usually around 40 degrees for most bathers!) is reached, sliding the vents closed will restrict the oxygen supply to the fire and so reduce the burn - allowing you to maintain the temperature nicely!

The optional electric heating system can be used instead of the wood fired stove if you simply want to plug-and-play, or can be used to maintain the water temperature once the wood fired stove has the heat going.
